SELENA Gomez shocked fans after she debuted a massive new back tattoo in a sultry new photo.
The 29-year-old had everyone trying to decipher the mystery ink, with some guessing it’s a “dream catcher” and others seeing a “bloody head.”
Famous New York City tattoo shop, Bang Bang, surprised its 2.5million followers on Wednesday when it shared a simple, black-and-white photo of Selena.
She stood in an open-spaced room with graffiti over the windows, with her face turned away from the camera.
The Only Murders in the Building actress wore black pants and went topless to show off her new tat, covering up with just a long jacket that was placed on backwards and left open, revealing her bare back.
The image began at the top of her neck and made its way to just above her mid-back.
While her face isn’t visible in the snap, Bang Bang tagged Selena in the Instagram caption and added a little drawing emoji next to her name.
The full-body photo was taken at a bit of a distance, causing fans to wonder what exactly the tattoo is of.

One follower suggested: “Looks like a beautiful dream catcher from this distance”
Others agreed, with one writing: “EITHER A ROSE OR A DREAM CATCHER, NOT THAT HARD TO SEE!”
It did seem to be hard for many, though, as there were quite a few different suggestions on what the image could be.
Aside from a dream catcher, a much darker guess was also made.
“Looks like a female head at the top with blood dripping,” was an idea thrown out in the comments.
Another asked: “Is that a stab in the back with blood running?”
A third said they saw “a bleeding wolf,” while another said it just looked like “a wolf” with no blood involved.
Without being able to see the image up close and only seeing clearly a few streaks coming down her upper neck, one fan joked: “Looks like a seagull popo…”
Another teased: “Looks like the cluster of bird droppings on my truck”
Others just said the whole tattoo and photo gave them “Blair Witch vibes” and that Selena’s “Darklena” era is coming and they are so ready.
During season 1 of her Hulu show, Only Murders in the Building, Selena showed off her back during a shower scene, which was bare from her new tattoo.
The actress, who was snubbed at the Golden Globes for her work on the show, did have a fake tattoo of a whale on her shoulder, though – just left of where her current real-life ink was placed.
The new mystery artwork isn’t the singer’s first tattoo, as she’s showed off a few other pieces in the past.
