Customers may need to plan ahead for those Christmas essentials.

Kroger has announced some adjustments to its opening hours for Christmas.
While the exact hours may vary from store to store, all locations will be closed on Christmas Day, and closing earlier than usual on Christmas Eve.
Christmas is the only day of the year when all Kroger stores close nationwide.
As you may remember, they were even open on Thanksgiving, unlike competitor stores.

The holiday hours for your local store will be posted at the entrances.
Times will vary by region, but in many areas, stores are open until 9 pm on Christmas Eve.
Some will be closed earlier, at 6 pm.
The day after Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day, all stores will be open as normal.

Many grocery stores observe Christmas Day as a holiday and keep their doors closed to allow employees to spend time with their families.
Kroger rival Walmart will also be closing its approximately 4,500 nationwide stores on December 25.
Shoppers will have their final chance to score last-minute gifts on Christmas Eve when most stores will be open from 6 am until 6 pm.
Target will also be closing all of its approximately 2,000 nationwide stores on Christmas.
Much like Walmart, many Target stores will also be closing early on Christmas Eve at 8 pm instead of the usual 10 pm.
On the other hand, some retailers will keep stores open for longer in the run-up to Christmas to welcome holiday shoppers.
