Iconic 1950s diner chain with more than 100 restaurants closes outlet as bosses blame 'unforeseen ci

AN iconic diner is set to close its doors and customers have been left devastated.

The restaurant once heralded a revitalized family-run entertainment center, but after 14 years, it has had to close after the property was sold for $5 million in May.

Johnny Rockets will shutter its Carson City, Nevada location within Carson Lanes Family Fun Center.

This store first opened in September 2009 but the business is now set to close on December 16.

The Johnny Rockets was the first business to set up shop inside the then newly expanded and refurbished Carson Lanes bowling alley.

Customers were notified of the closure through a note posted on the restaurant, according to Carson Now.

“We want to thank you for your patronage and loyalty to our beloved Johnny Rockets.”

She added: “Thank you for your loyalty and commitment to Johnny Rockets.”

It is not clear what the “unforeseen circumstances” that led to closure were.

For 20 years, the Burger family owned and operated the family fun center until the death of patriarch Eugene Burger in 2021, the Nevada Appeal reported.

The family sold the entire complex to an LLC in May for $5 million, which has opened a Homegrown Bowl, Bar, Grill and Billards with its own restaurant.

Chavez did not suggest that the new opening led to the Johnny Rockets' closure.

The news devastated Locals and fans who took to Facebook to share their thoughts.

Many people shared what the eatery meant, not just to them but also, to their families.

One person said: “My family is so sad to hear this.
